Mamata warns on flood relief ‘bias’
Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee
has made it clear to her cabinet colleagues that she will not tolerate
any complaints of nepotism in relief distribution following the
devastating floods. She has estimated total losses due to floods at around Rs 14,000 crore.
During Banerjee's visit to Malda, North Dinapur and South Dinapur this week, there were allegations about relief not reaching flood-hit people. Several Trinamool leaders were assaulted by flood victims.
The CM is also peeved at the surge in prices of vegetables and other essential commodities. There will be a meeting of the task force at Nabanna on Thursday to check the price rise.
